Feel free to praise us. Feel free to critique us. Feel free to bash us so badly that it gives one of us an eating disorder. All feedback is good. Please keep in mind, many of these works were sized and optimized for use on “teh internets” so please feel to request large details or larger prints.
The Ambush: This character has been an image I have been somewhat obsessive with over the past four or five years. She’s still technically unnamed in terms of her title; the most apt one I can think of is Deerhead Huntress. I’ve done many, many tiny sketches of this character, and this first full treatment that I’ve completed. - tehDog
Music Phase 00 + 01: I was once asked to paint music, and thankfully, I was listening to some fairly awesome music at the time I painted this series of abstract compositions. Listed from left to right are Music Phase 00 and Music Phase 01; Music Phase 01 hangs above my desk at all times. It’s stimulating. - tehDog
Peering Through: Woman + Animal Skull Helmet = Familiar Sight on this Site. This painting gave me an opportunity to really flesh out the recurring motif of animal skulls, feathers, leaves and the female figure who wears them. - tehDog
Recline: Charcoal on paper done in less than 30 minutes. It’s proof that I can draw, so please check it out. If anyone is interested in being drawn, just let me know. -tehDog
Super Power Star: I thought I was done with still-life painting until I was told, “You’re not done with still-life paintings”. Very art school, very political(-looking) but ultimately just my favorite still-life -tehDog
Blue Eyes: In the Spring of 2003, my life was a total mess. Without getting into details, I had put off a lot of things, and this painting was one of the first steps towards getting back on track. Eeriness and captivation were feelings I wanted to capture. Please note, her eyes are green. -tehDog
Rush Safely - PKS: In 2003, I was given an assignment: scan an object and alter it somehow for a consumable purpose. I listened, and with a very ape-like understanding of Photoshop, I procrastinated, panicked, got myself together and made this. All hail the Clone Stamp tool. -tehDog
8-Bits: This painting was completed as a final project for my Fall 2002 painting semester at Rutgers. What brought me to paint a moment of play from a videogame was when I finally got a clearer understanding of Pop Art in general, and I felt it could be applied to unexplored forms of popular media. 8-Bits actually won the 2004 Mason Gross BA/BFA Art Open and was on display at the Mason Gross gallery for a month or so. I am so 1337, f00lz. - tehDog
Nothing Sleeps - The Alley: Notice raised lights lining the alleyway; I set it up like that. Yeah, right. But seriously, this alleyway was shortest way to get to and from the Civic Square Building. During the day, one could expect anyone to pop out from there on their way to class. - tehDog
Nothing Sleeps - Loading Dock: Another shot taken for the Nothing Sleeps series at the Civic Square Building. This time, shots were taken at the buildnigs dark backlot. - tehDog
Nothing Sleeps - Sidewalks: Here’s the first in a series of photographs taken in New Brunswick, namely at the Civic Square Building. Taken after midnight on a weekday, this picture captures a rare moment when people aren’t lining the streets to pay parking tickets. - tehDog
Autograph: Believe it or not, I can operate mechanical devices without inadvertantly destroying them right away. This photograph is proof to such claim. Autograph was taken as part of a series, Nothing Sleeps, so please take the time to check out the other photographs in the series as they get posted. Maybe I can get a career in photographing car interiors. - tehDog
Skeleton Still: So this is how it all began: the flashpoint for an uphill career as an artist. Thanks Professor MacNeil - tehDog
