Rush Safely

Back in the ‘03, Photoshop was still a vast and scary mystery to me. Up until 2003, I had been weaned on various versions of MS Paint and Corel Draw to create rundimentary designs, crude layouts and sloppy photo edits, and my Photoshop experience had been limited to what was taught during my Spring 2003 semester. I had never really used any digital tools to create or alter an image for any significant purpose. Then one day, while I was working at the Mason Gross design lab with a scanner, an unused prophylactic (“and one soiled”) and a closing deadline, I discovered the holy Clone Stamp tool: paydirt.
Despite positive reactions from my peers, classmates and instructors, the fate of this image has been rather tragic. Despite the wide possibilities it had for posters, flyers, t-shirts, and other fraternity-related merch, nothing was ever made from Rush Safely’s design. T-shirts were “attempted”, but unfortunately, the man behind having the designs printed only had a Ruff idea of how to do so. We’ll try again though.
